Workshop MATH EVERYWHERE

Apologies for cross-posting
---------------------------

Dear colleague,

we are glad to invite you to participate to the workshop

              MATH EVERYWHERE

     Deterministic and Stochastic Modelling
     in Biomedicine, Economics and Industry

that will be held at the Department of Mathematics, University
of Milano, on September 4-6, 2005, in honour of the 60th
birthday of Prof. Vincenzo Capasso.

The meeting mean to be very interesting from a scientific point of view.
Outstanding invited speakers from all over the world have accepted to
participate. The final programme is now available at the web page

                    www.mat.unimi.it/users/vk60

During the last 30 years, the establishment of communication channels
between Academia (methods) and Industry (applications) has been the driving
force of a big part of the scientific and technological progress which we
observe in our daylife.

The aim of this workshop is to reinforce awareness about the increasing role
of Mathematical Methods and Tools for the design of complex products or
protocols in various areas of industrial interest at large (Aereonaurucs,
Material Science, Finance, Biology, Medicine, etc.). The mastering of
complexity implies the sharing of different tools by different actors which
require a much higher level of communication between culturally different
people.

The increased attention of Industry to the preservation of the environment
and to biomedical problems, related to the working conditions or to the
health of the customer, forms also a strong link between Industry and
Biomedicine. In this framework, Mathematics, which is often able to face
problems coming from different environments with similar tools, could be
used as a common language.

The workshop will offer to all interested researchers the opportunity to be
exposed to the presentation of the relevant innovative mathematical methods
which are now widely used to solve real industrial and social problems; the
need of further contributions from Mathematics to improve or provide better
solutions will also be considered.

There will be only invited speakers.

DEADLINE:
For a good organization we ask you to fill in the ONLINE REGISTRATION FORM
by 15th of June.

Best regards,

Organizing Committee
