	BRUNO DE FINETTI'S FUNDAMENTAL THEOREM OF PROBABILITY:
		APPLICATIONS IN STATISTICAL CONSULTING



Abstract:

Despite its universality and its power, de Finetti's "fundamental theorem of
probability" is largely unknown in the statistical community. In this talk I
shall develop the theorem in the form of a linear programming problem, and
show its application to a problem of assessing the conflicting evidence
presented by the judgments of three different radiologists who evaluate a
lung x-ray.
