ISBIS (International Society for Business and Industrial Statistics)
is organising a series of webinars on "Leading Women in Business and
Industrial Statistics" to celebrate the International Year of Women in
Statistics and Data Science launched in May 2020 by ISI (International
Statistical Institute).
Videos of past events are available at
https://www.isbis-isi.org/webinars.html
The sixth webinar is on May, 21st at 10.00 CEST (9.00 UK) and the
speaker is Prof. Sonali Das, University of Pretoria (South Africa), and
she will talk about
"Why being a female statistician in Africa matters, and more"
In this presentation I share some of my experiences and observations
being a female statistician from Africa. Weather has a direct and in-direct
effect on many business decisions. I will share some of my current research
on understanding weather data from South Africa using functional data
analysis methods, and how such insights within the ecosystem of
decision-making may be useful. I will also share some experiences in
working with non-statisticians.
The webinar is free to attend but registration at
https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/8702443633022227984
is needed.
Cordiali saluti
