Abstract
Multiplex networks are widely applicable models to represent sets of entities connected through multiple types of relations. Systems that can be modeled as multiplex networks include social networks with different types of social ties, multi-modal transportation networks, etc. This seminar will provide an overview of various types of analyses and research questions that are relevant for multiplex networks, comparing them with traditional approaches used to analyze simple networks, and give specific examples concerning the generation/evolution of multiplex networks and the identification of communities.
