The research is within the Flagship Project Factory of the Future - NanoTwice, 
funded by MIUR and CNR.

The main focus of the Project is the industrialization of the electrospinning 
process. Electrospinning, an electro-hydrodynamic process, is a versatile 
and promising platform technology for the production of nanofibrous materials 
consisting of diverse polymers and polymer-base nano-composites. 

The actitivies of IMATI and of the Research Fellow within the Project deal 
with the stochastic modelization of the process and the optimization of the 
inlet parameters to achieve the optimal output.

Indeed, the work deals with the analysis of the experimental campaignes to 
find the optimal configuration of process parameters and the impact of the 
environmental variables that can affect the process.

The quality of the output is analyzed in terms of the surface density of 
defects, which is measured by an appropriate tool for analyzing SEM images 
of the electrospinning artifacts.

Finally, the activities deal with the correlation between the inlet process 
parameters and the alterations in the process (measured through the current 
associated with the electrospinning jet).
