Pak terrà il seminario
"Computer experiments for Robust Design: common issues and research 
directions"

Abstract
Robust Design is a methodology for making products, processes and in 
general systems
insensitive or “robust” to the effects on natural variations in their 
production and use
environments. Classical Robust Design studies rely on physical 
experiments. The nature of
these experiments (costly, time-consuming, difficult to set) force 
experimenters to test a few
number of parameters at few levels. Strategies to perform Robust Design 
studies with a
“virtual” experiment have a high industrial interest and constitute a 
wide research opportunity
in the academic world.
This seminar aims at presenting some common issues when executing 
computer experiments
such as the choice of the experimental design, the sample size and the 
method for model
estimation. Some potential research directions for overcoming the above 
mentioned issues are
presented and discussed among participants.

Nasce a Palermo, si laurea in Ingegneria Gestionale e si specializza 
conseguendo un
Dottorato in Ingegneria Aerospaziale, Navale e della Qualità Totale 
presso l’Università di Napoli Federico II.
Dopo aver collaborato con diverse Università Italiane e straniere 
nell’ambito di progetti Europei,
nel 2008 entra in TetraPak Packaging Solutions ricoprendo inizialmente 
il ruolo di Expert Advisor in metodologie Six Sigma
e successivamente ruoli di responsabilità nelle aree di Business 
Intelligence e Systems Engineering.
Attualmente coordina lo sviluppo e l’implementazione di metodologie per 
la progettazione nell’area R&D.
E’ autore di molteplici pubblicazioni internazionali nell’ambito della 
statistica industriale
