     Il Professor William Strawderman (Rutgers University, New Jersey, USA)
     sara' ospite del Dipartimento di Statistica, Probabilita' e Stat. Appl.
     dell'Universita' di Roma "La Sapienza" dal 15 al 19 aprile 1996.
     Mercoledi' 17 aprile, alle ore 15, presso l'Aula V del Dipartimento,
     terra' un seminario dal titolo
                 
                 AN INTRODUCTION TO SHRINKAGE ESTIMATION                   
                 
      Tutti gli interessati sono invitati a partecipare.

                               Riassunto
        We introduce shrinkage estimation intuitively and show why such
        estimators are likely to perform well in a variety of settings.
        We give some of the theoretical development in relatively simple 
        cases and indicate results in some more complicated settings.
