TOWARDS ELECTRONIC DEMOCRACY: INTERNET-BASED DECISION SUPPORT
The European Science Foundation has established the programme TOWARDS
ELECTRONIC DEMOCRACY (TED) with the objective of discussing and evaluating
how advances in interactive decision analytic tools might help develop
inclusive e-democratic systems which involve their electorates more fully
in decision making. As part of this programme:
1) A WORKSHOP on ``Internet-based Multi-Criteria Decision Support''
was held in Madrid on May, 22-24, 2003. For information, see the web page:
http://bayes.escet.urjc.es/ted/madrid_workshop.html
2) A SPECIAL ISSUE OF JMCDA (Journal of Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis)
will contain papers from the above TED workshop in Madrid and others on
the same topic are solicited. Interested contributors should send an
abstract to Simon French <sfrench@man.mbs.ac.uk> by June, 21, 2003 and
the full paper should be received by August, 1, 2003.
3) A SUMMER SCHOOL is organised in Varenna (Italy) on September, 7-13, 2003,
jointly with CNR-IMATI (Istituto di Matematica Applicata e Tecnologie
Informatiche of the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche). Programme and
further information are available at the web page:
http://www.mi.imati.cnr.it/conferences/varenna03.html
For information, please contact Fabrizio Ruggeri <fabrizio@mi.imati.cnr.it>
4) A second CALL has been recently issued to SUPPORT WORKSHOPS AND FELLOWSHIPS
for visits between researchers (both seniors and post-docs). The deadline is

French <sfrench@man.mbs.ac.uk>. The full text of the call is available at
http://www.mi.imati.cnr.it/conferences/varenna03/call.html
and, shortly, at
