BIPLOTS OF CATEGORICAL DATA

In this series of four lectures I will give a complete
overview of the visualisation of categorical data using
biplots and related methods.

Lecture 1 Introduction to linear biplots
The linear biplot - singular value decomposition -
standard and principal coordinates - graphical display -
numerical aids to interpretation - categorical data.

Lecture 2 Correspondence analysis
Profile, mass and chi-square distance - barycentric
versus biplot interpretation - joint display of rows
and columns - optimal scaling - canonical correlation.

Lecture 3 Compositional data analysis
Logratios - subcompositional coherence - Aitchison
distance - distributional equivalence - weighted
ratio map - comparison with correspondence analysis.

Lecture 4 Extensions and generalisations
Concatenated tables - multiple correspondence analysis -
joint correspondence analysis - biplot interpretation
and reconstruction of data - data transformations
