MEI, bando 2000-01



	                  Master in Economics (MEI)

                   
The MEI is a post-graduate program aimed at preparing economists for
professional work in business or  research, with particular regard to
financial and public institutions and the European business environment.

MEI offers four areas of specialisation: 

- European Economics.
- Credit, Financial and Insurance Markets .
- Regulation and Antitrust.
- Quantitative Methods. 

The program is divided in two semesters:	
-	First semester: 17/09/2001 - 14/12/2001.
-	Second semester: 11/02/2002 - 10/05/2002.

After the exams at the end of the second semester, students are expected to
write a report based on either an internship or a project of their own as
agreed with a supervisor.	

Admission Criteria 
Candidates must be either:
- Holders of an undergraduate degree (Laurea or equivalent) with a final
grade of no less than 105/110 (or equivalent) and a grade point average of
no less than 27/30 (or equivalent).
- Students in their final undergraduate year with a grade point average of
no less than 27/30 (or equivalent) who will obtain their degree (Laurea or
equivalent) by the end of July 2001.

Application
Applications must enclose the following documentation (in English or Italian):
	
- Curriculum Vitae.
- A statement of the research or professional purposes for applying to the
MEI (not more than 500 words).
- Transcript of the undergraduate record, including the grades obtained in
each exam and  the final grade. 
- General Record Examination (GRE). The GRE (general part) is compulsory
for non-Italian students and strongly recommended for Italian ones. GRE
results will be taken into account when deciding on financial aid.
- TOEFL or similar certificate of proficiency in English (not required for
those who have obtained their degree from universities where courses are
taught in English).
- Two letters of recommendation written by people who can evaluate the
applicant's study and research abilities, such as previous lecturers and
supervisors.	.

It is also possible to apply by filling up the application form at On line
application and sending the necessary documentation by e-mail. The letters
of recommendation, in a sealed envelope, must arrive by post within the
deadline. Hardcopy of the remaining documentation is required only after
admission.

Tuition Fees 
Tuition fees for the academic year 2001/2002 are It.L. 8 million, to be
paid in two equal instalments. The first instalment is due on admission.

Financial Aid
Financial aid, based on merit,  is available in the form of total or
partial refund of the tuition fees.
