Fourth UK Causal Inference Meeting (UK-CIM): Causal Inference in the Health, Economic and Social Sciences 

The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is pleased to host the UK-CIM 2016, which will take place from Wednesday 13th to Friday 15th April 2016, with a selection of pre-conference workshops held on Tuesday 12th April. 

The meeting is supported and part funded by both the Centre for Statistical Methodology at LSHTM ( http://csm.lshtm.ac.uk ) and the Social Statistics Group at the London School of Economics ( http://www.lse.ac.uk/statistics/research/Social-Statistics ).

Pre-Meeting Workshops 

On Tuesday, April 12th, Professors Frank Windmeijer and Tyler VanderWeele from Bristol and Harvard Universities, respectively, will offer a pair of half-day workshops: 
Workshop A : Instrumental Variables, led by Frank Windmeijer (9:30 until 13:00) 
Workshop B : Mediation, led by Tyler VanderWeele (14:00 until 17:30) 

Alongside these two specific topic workshops, there will be an alternative workshop, running from 9:30 until 17:30 led by Rhian Daniel (LSHTM): 
Workshop C : aimed at newcomers to Causal Inference with the content tailored to the programme for the main meeting. The aim is to cover the foundational topics needed to follow the majority of the talks at the main meeting.

Important Dates 

31st January 2016: Close of abstract submission for talk and poster presentations. 
31st January 2016: Last day of early-bird registration fees (except for those submitting abstracts).
Early March 2016: Notification for accepted abstracts for talks and posters.
22nd March 2016: Meeting and pre-meeting workshop registration closes (those who submitted abstracts can continue to take advantage of early-bird fees until this date, irrespective of the outcome of their submissions). 


Background to UK-CIM 

This is the fourth meeting of a UK-wide collaborative effort across the methodology research community in the health, economic and social sciences. It aims to provide a forum for people interested in causal inference to meet informally, for early career researchers to highlight their work, and to offer opportunities for networking to foster future research opportunities and collaborations.
