[Forum SIS] Call for workshops for the 1st Southern European Conference on Survey Methodology (SESM) and VI Congreso de Metodología de Encuestas

Dear all,

>From December, 12 to December 14, 2013 the 1st SESM Conference and the
VI Congreso de Metodología de Encuestas will be held in Barcelona
(Spain). On this occasion, we invite you to submit proposals for
workshops (sessions) on topics related to survey methodology and its
applications.

The conference aims at bringing together national and foreign
researchers and companies interested in sharing knowledge on
up-to-date best practices in survey methodology and new scientific
results, form bridges between the academic world and companies using
and doing surveys, strengthen international cooperation and expertise
transfers.

Given the international nature of the conference, sessions can be
organized either in Spanish or in English.
Workshops proposals are invited in any area of survey methodology, or
in substantive applications of survey research.

Topics of the conference include but are not restricted to:
- Measurement error
- Web surveys
- Collecting data trough social networks
- Mixed mode of data collection
- Sampling and sample design
- Sampling elusive populations
- Question testing and piloting
- Interviewer effects
- Questionnaire design
- Multilevel models
- Construction and evaluation of composite scores
- Election polling and public opinion surveys
- Small area estimation
- Causal inference
- Methods to analyse and prevent missing data
- Fieldwork
- Confidentiality and data access
- Social desirability bias
- Innovative ways of presenting results of statistical analyses
- Experimental and quasi experimental survey designs

Each workshop proposal must contain all pertinent information,
including the following:
- workshop title
- short description of the topic (maximum length one A4 page)
- names and contact information of the workshop organizer(s)
- language of the workshop (Spanish or English)

Submissions should be sent via the conference website
(http://eventia.upf.edu/congresos/ficha.en.html?cc=123&).

Deadline for proposals submission is March 1st, 2013. The decision
about acceptance/rejection of workshop proposals will be made by the
conference scientific committee on the basis of the quality of the
proposals and their adequacy to the Conference program. Notification
will be given by March 15th. The organizers of successful workshops
will be responsible for selecting or redirecting paper proposals to be
received once the “calls for papers” are launched in April and May.
