ABSTRACT

Voxel-based lesion-symptom mapping (VLSM) is a useful tool to examine the validity of different theoretical assumptions about the neuropsychological mechanisms and lesion correlates of acquired dyslexias. Modeling these data represents an exciting and challenging area of research. In this seminar, methods for exact small-sample analyses with categorical data shall be reviewed. The current “state of the art” primarily uses the approach of eliminating nuisance parameters by conditioning on their sufficient statistics. Other unconditional methods have been proposed in the literature and a variety of algorithms now exist to implement these methods. A strong motivation of unconditional methods over the more popular conditional methods is the ease of explanation of the results. The possibility of using an unconditional approach in the VLSM will be discussed, and also the opportunity to analyze the data in a potential outcomes framework.

Tutti gli interessati sono invitati a partecipare.
