	A POSTDOCTORAL POSITIONS in STATISTICS/ECONOMETRICS
is announced at the Institute of Statistics, Faculty of Economics,
University of Neuchâtel.
	The Institute of Statistics of the Faculty of Economics of the University
of Neuchâtel expects to open a postdoctoral position starting in November
2010.

QUALIFICATIONS AND ASSESSMENT GROUNDS FOR APPOINTMENT

The applicant should
·	have a doctorate in Statistics or in a related field,
·	have a track record of publications in refereed international journals,
·	be interested in teaching and willing to perform to a high level in the
didactic duties,
·	have good knowledge of both French and English.

JOB DESCRIPTION

	The postdoctoral fellow will be employed on a fixed-term contract of up
to 4 years and will be active in the Institute of Statistics, University
of Neuchâtel for the full duration of this position.  She/he is expected
to
·	teach an average of 4 hours a week  in the bachelor and master programs.
The teaching is both in French and English
·	conduct high-quality research leading to publication in good refereed
international journals
·	organize the research seminar of the institute
·	supervise undergraduate and master theses and help supervising doctoral
students  within her/his research area
·	participate in other administrative activities in the institute
(organize scientific events, etc.)

SALARY AND BENEFITS

The successful candidate will receive benefits and salary in accordance to
the rules and regulations of the University of Neuchâtel (see
http://www2.unine.ch/rh/page1577.html).
Rough and non-binding estimates of the salary for 100% employment go from
a gross salary of around CHF 100,000 (€ 75,000)/year in the first year to
roughly CHF 110,000 (€ 83,000)/year in the fourth year.

HOW TO APPLY

(1)	A CV including biographical information, degrees, work and teaching
experiences, list of publications, list of honors, awards, scholarships,
fellowships, etc.
(2)	Three reference letters (to be sent directly by the reference scholars
to the email address indicated above). The candidate should arrange for
the letters to be sent by the application’s deadline. The names and
addresses (including e-mail and FAX) of three referees should be included
in the CV.
(3)	A short statement (1-2 pages) describing
·	the applicant’s interest in the research area, if possible also the work
that he or she would like to do during the appointment
·	her/his views  on teaching, relevant previous experiences related to
didactic activities of any kind, etc.
·	other experiences and interests demonstrating the qualities listed in
the section on QUALIFICATIONS AND ASSESSMENT GROUNDS FOR APPOINTMENT

	Interviews will  be conducted  starting October 15th. Conditional on the
position being still unfilled applications will be accepted until
November 15th. The position starts November 1st 2010 or at a later date
to be commonly decided.
