Il prof. YAKOV YU. NIKITIN (Università di San Pietroburgo) svolgerà presso
il Dipartimento di Statistica, Probabilità e Statistiche Applicate  un
ciclo di seminari dal titolo "Large deviations of test statistics with
applications to efficiency".
I seminari si terranno nella sede del Dipartimento, sala 34.
Tutti gli interessati sono invitati a intervenire.

PROGRAMMA
Modern approaches to the calculation of efficiency of statistical tests
were proposed in 1960-1980 by Bahadur, Hodges-Lehmann, Chernoff, Kallenberg
and others. All of them require the large deviation asymptotics of the
corresponding test-statistics. The analysis of large deviations is a
difficult problem having numerous applications in statistics, information
theory, statistical physics, etc. We present new results on large
deviations of U- and V- statistics and of test statistics based on kernel
density estimators. This opens the possibility to calculate the asymptotic
efficiency of numerous statistical tests and to compare them on this basis.
